This Vogue India cover hit us yesterday and we’ve been speechless ever since. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, looking hotter than she’s ever done before, in clothes that she’s definitely never tried before – there are more than a few reasons to let out a sigh of jealousy! How can someone look THIS good!? The most beautiful woman in the world was styled by Vogue‘s Fashion Director, Anaita Shroff Adajania, and photographed by Marc Hom. Speaking to Kersi Khambatta, she says talks about her “comeback”
Comeback? What a strange word. Comebacks are for people who cashed in their cheques, switched off the bright lights, retired to the Bahamas, and then sheepishly snuck back in realising they still had a little gas in the tank for one more. Why, she never went away. “Yes, there was a maternity leave, just like any other working woman—in fact, I was working right up to my sixth month, with my various product endorsements and other stuff. There were no movies, obviously,”
Priya Tanna, Editor at Vogue India talks about the issue and Aishwarya, saying:
From something old to something new: our favourite cover girl—a ’70s child herself—is back this month with a look so new, I’m sure at least some of you did a double take. But it’s Aishwarya Rai Bachchan all right, looking like she’s never looked before and saying things she’s never opened up about before.
While Anaita adds,
The ’70s is one of the biggest trends for S S ’15 and Ash is the perfect muse to bring this back. She was super excited and willing to play the character of my ’70s muse in the story.” She also adds that, “Some of my all-time favourite cover shoots for Vogue India have been with Ash and we always manage to out do them each time.
While I haven’t go my hands on the issue yet, I’m walking out to do it as soon as I hit publish on this: 1. because I can’t wait to see all the clothes and 2. because I can read what Aish has to say all day, everyday!
