Prince William and Catherine, Duke & Duchess of Cambridge finally arrived in Mumbai over the weekend on the first leg of their India tour. These official tours are hard work, with little to no rest between social engagements it seems. I shudder to think about what kind of panic I’d be in if I had to change outfits as many as 3 times a day. But this is exactly why not everyone can be a princess and more importantly why VIPs have a squad with them at all times. It’s definitely not a one man kinda job. That said, Kate Middleton looked stunning on arrival, in this beautiful red, printed, knee-length dress by Alexander McQueen. To offset the print and colour of the outfit Kate chose beige pumps and a beige clutch to match.
Their next stop was Oval Maidan in Mumbai, to play cricket with legend Sachin Tendulkar & some cute kids, followed by a visit to Banganga Tank in Malabar Hill. For her activity-filled day she chose an Anita Dongre creation from her latest Summer-Resort 2016 collection titled ‘Love Notes’.
The tunic dress was a perfect choice for a hot, summer’s day because of its summery, georgette fabric and the very Indian print that was a classic combination of Mughal-inspired motifs. Anita Dongre also has the distinct honour of being the first Indian designer that she wore during this India tour.
The day ended with the Kensington Royal Dinner at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai where the couple met all the Bollywood A-listers, before which they even had an unscheduled meeting with their unofficial biggest fan, Boman Kohinoor, the owner of the famous Parsi restaurant Britannia & Co. in Fort, Mumbai. (The internet made that happen, you guys!)
Kate wore this electric blue Jenny Packham embellished gown, and of course looked divine. And before you know it, Day 2 is already here and has already begun for the busy royal couple.
