It’s no secret that we’re totally crushing on Aditi Rao Hydari‘s style. From her casual daily outfits, to the heavy ethnic ones, we love them all. She always features on our best dressed list and all that credit goes to her stylist, Sanam Ratansi. She’s the woman responsible for some of Aditi’s coolest looks and all that style inspiration we take back from them. We decided to ask Sanam exactly what it’s like styling Aditi, and here’s everything she told us…
Team MissMalini (Team MM): What does a day on the job look like?
Sanam Ratansi (SR): No two days are the same, there are no fixed timings. I could get a panic call at 12:00am for an event the next day and I have to make it work. It’s challenging and I love it!
Team MM: What is Aditi’s personal style like?
SR: Effortless and fuss free! She loves her swing dresses and sneakers, and I keep threatening to give them away!
Team MM: How experimental do you get with outfit ideas?
SR: I try to keep it new and interesting, while still being true to my aesthetic and instinct and not getting carried away.
Team MM: Do you prefer Indian or western wear on Aditi?
SR: Aditi is extremely versatile so she can go from delicate to sexy with ease, But I think you’ll agree that she looks exceptionally beautiful in Indian.
Team MM: The best/worst thing about styling?
SR: The best thing is that I’m always surrounded by amazing clothes!! The worst would be sorting out the returns, my house looks like a godown on most days!
Team MM: The designer you keep going back to?
SR: Its difficult to pick one! It really depends on the occasion and the look we are going for. There is so much amazing work to choose from.
Team MM: A new designer we should watch out for?
SR: Sukriti & Aakriti
Team MM: How easy/challenging is it to style a Bollywood star?
SR: It’s a little of both- when you’re dressing an actor you have to keep in mind their personality. It’s important to know and understand the person you are styling and have a vision for them.
Team MM: Is costume designing something you’d ever want to do?
SR: Given the opportunity, yes I would
