There was a lot of creativity and ingenuity of diversity of designers that came on the first day at Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive ’16. We have to hand it to the new kids on the block who brought an aesthetic that stands out from what’s already existing. It’s a very risky, bold and expensive decision that these designers make to put themselves out there. Watching this new bunch of talent on the runway is a big part of what makes fashion week exciting, and these designers have left no stone unturned to stand out at their best.
Take a look at these artists with their outstanding creations:
-
Vaibhav Singh
We saw subtle layering with an impeccable attention to detail at Vaibhav’s show. The colour palette was muted with a bold use of red for menswear.
-
Dming By Rubu Dming
Dming scored high using asymmetrical and geometric silhouettes using flowy fabrics. That mix of sheer and solid fabrics in panels stood out really well.
-
Khanijo
It was all about sharp layering, bold use of colours and subtle embellishing through a formal men’s wear collection. That minimalistic dragonfly detail was super cool for a menswear line.
-
Chola By Sohaya Misra
We cannot get over this collection of over exaggerated drapes for women with a mix of textiles and layering. It was unusual and absolutely wearable.
-
Misho By Suhani Parekh
We loved this unconventional range of structured jewellery inspired by architecture for your body. A concept that stood with a tinge our indi-ness though the mang tikka.
-
Shivangi Sahni
Super indi and super cool! This collection not only won our hearts but also won the Grazia Young Awards at Lakme Fashion Week this year.
It’s honestly very difficult to come up with an aesthetic that stands out from the ones that already exist. And this new talent clearly has done a fantastic job. There is no denying we’re getting more individualistic in style and character with every passing fashion week and there was something for every kind of style.
