We always applaud brands that create a product leaving as little a carbon footprint as possible, but when the product also looks as good as the new Adidas UltraBOOST Uncaged Parley running shoe—well, they just deserve a standing ovation! Adidas has been known for merging fitness with fashion, but never for a commitment to sustainability—until now.
The main knit part of the UltraBOOST sneaker is made from Parley Ocean Plastic, which is literally, plastic waste from the ocean that is retrieved by Parley coastal interception and clean-up operations in the Maldives. The Parley Ocean Plastic is then spun into technical yarn fibers. Fun fact: each pair of shoes equals contains eleven reused plastic bottles. Even the laces, heel base, and lining are made from up-cycled materials like recycled polyester.
Big props to Adidas for their new initiative to go green.
