Bold and graphic were the keywords, as Italian fashion house, Fendi, literally lit up the runway at Milan Men’s Fashion Week AW17. Designer Silvia Venturini Fendi showcased a bright and practical collection of simple prints, solid colours and clean, comfortable lines. for men. Jackets, pants, jumpers, headbands, gloves, bags, right down to fashionable pairs of shoes and travel pillows walked a backlit runway. Silhouettes were relaxed and sporty with a cool mix of daywear and formalwear in black, grey, camel and military green were seamlessly worn together.
Fur featured big time – on collars and on sleeves of oversized coats as well as on accessories. Splashes of vibrant yellow, blue, green, pink and orange brought life to the outfits. Fendi got the logo up front and centre, along with motivational slogans like “yes”, “try” “think” as she made these the focal point of pretty much all her pieces. Even went as far as to give a couple of her models a temporary label hair tattoo.
The vibe was cosy and colourful and the show was quirky, flamboyant and positive throughout. Everything looks lux AF because of classy touches on the blousons, the cloak-coats, the vests, the Seventies’-style zip-up jumpers and slim fitting quilted suits. Fendi is famous for her playful work with prints and mixes soft animal prints with contrast piping with so much finesse. As the runway literally lit up (yes… Literally!) in neon blue to have the entire lineup walk the finale, it was a moment that stood out over the week.
