Yes, it’s true, it was Sushmita Sen who had us drooling over her at Lakmé Fashion Week. While she was totally stunning, even Rajkummar Rao‘s ramp walk made an impact on us. But the best part of day 2 ofLFW was the essence of the day itself, as it is dedicated to sustainable fashion. 5 Days Of Fashion are incomplete without it.
Designers are experimenting with the concept of sustainable fashion and making sure #KhadiGoesChic. They are on a mission to change our perception of this by transforming traditional handloom textiles and presenting them in a new avatar.
Here are the collections that did justice to the concept of #Day2 of Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018:
Khadi And Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Show
Khadi and Village Industries Commission presents Lars Andersson, Buna, The Third Floor Clothing and Jewellyn Alvares was the show that kick-started the day. The display created a pleasant, cosy ambience that’s perfect to warm up during winter. The effortless dresses, comfy separates and breathable fabrics made sure that the theme #KhadiGoesChic came through.
Craftmark X Ka-Sha Presents Kota Women Weavers
Ka-Sha collaborated with the Kota Weavers Organisation to create a mesmerising display presented by Craftmark. Staying true to its roots, the brand showcased multiple layers and the collaborative effort of contrasting characteristics.
RmKV Silks In Collaboration With Sunita Shanker
Silk has a prestigious place in the textile world and Sunita Shanker in collaboration with RmKV Silks celebrated its elegance at LFW. The memorable moment of the show had to be when Sushmita Sen walked the ramp like a regal queen. She wore a red jumpsuit with a dhup-chav dupatta that was cinched at the waist, which made a unique statement.
Vriksh By Gunjan Jain
Whoever said handwoven saris are boring did not see the collection from Vriksh by Gunjan Jain yesterday. Taking inspiration from the yogini cult of Odisha, the lineup showcased experimental drapes that were teamed with modern blouses.
Digital Empowerment Foundation Presents #ArtisansOfDigitalAge
The showcase was a collaboration of the past and future, traditional and digital. The designers were digitally driven to celebrate sustainable fashion. They collaborated with clusters from different areas and we saw the lineup of Indigene X Barpali & Nuapatna, Naushad Ali X Musiri and Three By Pallavi Dhyani X Barabanki.
Eka
The show started with a short film showcasing the production process of all Eka garments. The hand-spun and handwoven clothes displayed basic prints like stripes, checks and borders along with hand block prints. The easy silhouettes and light layers formed a comfortable outfit for mild winters.
Tencel™ Presents Rajesh Pratap Singh’s #PlanetPositive
From psychedelic prints being projected on a wall to animal prints getting a new canvas on shoes, Rajesh Pratap Singh‘s #PlanetPositive collection was presented by Tencel™ at LFW. Experimenting with the new textile, Singh had an array of silhouettes in both womenswear and menswear to offer. We love the way the collection escalated from the white palette to intense winter hues. Also, Rajkummar Rao was the cool and calm showstopper, who looked amazing in an all-white ensemble. He opened and closed the show with his suave walk and charming persona.
