Check this out! Here’s a cool initiative by world renowned skateboarder Javier Mendizabal for Quiksilver. “Hook Up with Vuerich B”, a young street smart, eco friendly sunglass brand from the European skateboarding mecca – Barcelona!
The Griffin
You can now buy these limited edition sunglasses called «The Griffin» which are handmade from broken/discarded skateboards! Apparently maple wood is extremely well suited to making sunglasses. The layer of resin on the skateboards give them a natural tint and offers an infinite number of colour schemes. In fact, the graphic designs on the boards have been retained as well!
For each pair of sunglasses purchased, Quiksilver will donate a part of the benefits to Skateisan, an educational skateboard-based program in Cambodia.
