Classic designs with a present-day pulse defines Gucci‘s 2014 Pre-Fall Men’s collection. Primary colours have been mixed with different hues of black and white, giving the modern man everything he needs to stand out and look sharp.
The silhouettes come in either form fitting to the body, or boxy. Soft suits are slightly deconstructed with narrow lapels, while shirts have small, retro-style rounded collars. The classic blazer is engineered to worn as a soft cardigan… perfect for draping on a woman’s shoulders on a cool evening. ;)
You’ll see blazers and double-breasted suits styled with turtlenecks, instead of the traditional button-down. The deconstruction continues with military jackets worn with relaxed pants, for a cargo-style leisure suit. The parka has been updated to short and boxy, while pants are supple and slim, often creased at the bottom. Bad boys have some options too, with the range of leather biker jackets and bombers.
Casentino – the distinct textile achieved from Italian weaving techniques – defines the Florentine orange peacoat, festooned with Gucci crest buttons. And formal wear gets an update with gingham, traditional pinstripes, and classic flannels.
The evening wear segment has something unexpected: a black velvet blazer is worn over a classic tuxedo shirt, and perfectly contrasting orange wool silk pants, with a bow-tie to boot… awesome pairing!
Of course, it’s not a Gucci collection without accessories! The leather briefcase makes a comeback in bumblebee yellow, with black lining. And finally we get to the shoes, which were made more sturdy this year, courtesy of a collaboration with the rubber tire company, Goodyear.
Definitely not your average collection! Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
