It’s no secret we love ourselves a beautiful pair of shoes. But when we heard about a new startup that’s handcrafting exquisite footwear and reviving a dying tradition right here in South Asia, we couldn’t resist!
Remember the time when skilled artisans meticulously handcrafted your shoes? Probably not; but your grandfather definitely does. The care and painstaking attention to detail that went in to designing distinguished footwear for men is a proud South Asian tradition, but sadly it has faded away over the years.
Enter Markhor, a shoe company that’s working hard to bridge the gap between classic craftsmanship and modern design.
Markhor hails from across the border in Pakistan, using materials from one of the oldest leather tanneries in Asia and handmade by dedicated craftsman standing on the shoulders of generations of brilliant shoemakers.
Of course, it helps that the shoes themselves are rich with class and understated swag.
Markhor recently launched a KickStarter campaign; they’ve just passed the $50k mark, and are still going strong.
Support Markhor on Kickstarter and stand up for centuries of old craftsmanship – all while rocking a dope pair of loafers! Sounds like a win-win to us.
