Kendall Jenner

Nope, it isn’t October 3rd, but Kendall Jenner‘s bringing Mean Girls back and how! The very young and accomplished supermodel, reality TV star, and business woman extraordinaire is letting it out honey and she’s putting it in the book. The young starlet is definitely not new to bullying. She’s faced a lot of backlash throughout the start of her modelling career and then some, as a “Kardashian/Jenner,” for being famous, for being too skinny, and the list just goes on. But when you’re that young and popular, you’re bound to have some haters right? Take a look at Kendall’s twist on the very popular concept of a ‘Burn Book.’ This time, she’s burning herself, but the joke’s on us.

Wow! You see all the hate we put out in the universe? And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. As cover star of Dazed Magazine, Kendall Jenner, featured in this short video stating excerpts from nasty comments people have said about her throughout her career (and of course, she threw in some classic Mean Girls dialogues, which we absolutely loved). Yeah, guys. The hate is real. I’ve addressed this in my post about Celebrities Reading Mean Tweets and sure, a few laughs don’t harm anybody, but it doesn’t mean celebrities aren’t human and it surely doesn’t mean that they don’t get hurt. While these celebrities may be setting great examples of dealing with bullying by spreading awareness and continuing to prove the haters wrong, there’s a more profound message that this video gives:  this phenomenon may affect celebrities on a more public platform, but it’s a reality in everyone’s everyday life. Don’t believe me? I think you’ll view this clip in a different light.

In the hilarity of it all, we often forget what the movie’s really about. It’s a satire on bullying that goes on in numerous schools the world over and in reality, it never ends well. But bullying doesn’t stop there, clearly there exists forms of self-bullying, bullying at the workplace, and bullying in the form of humor. Now, I’m all for a good joke, but the next time you decide to write, comment, or say something “mean” … I’m sure you’ll stop and think about this: putting negativity out there isn’t bringing any positivity back.

Think Kendall’s video made a statement? We definitely received the message loud and clear! What’s your opinion on bullying?
