Monisha Jaising

Feminity at its best is how we would like to describe Monisha Jaisingh‘s latest collection at ICW this time. Metallic reds, greens and interesting silhouettes with a mix of Indian textures was the name of her game. Shilpa looked breathtakingly sexy in a benarasi red dress, which showed off all the right curves of her super toned body.

Day 6 at FDCI’s ICW 2017 started with Anita Dongre and ended Gaurav Gupta showcasing new designs being true to their aesthetic. We loved Anita for her traditional Indian style with innovation in silhouettes and textures and Gaurav once again has blown us away with his new creations. Aditi Rao Hydari looked drop, dead, gorgeous as she ended the show for Gaurav’s ‘Moondust’ collection.

Anita Dongre

Her collection this time took intricate Indian craftsmanship and made it contemporary for a bride who is resplendent, confident and radiant. Her new line of clothes combined traditional weaves and exquisite embroideries with silhouettes that were influenced by contemporary styles for both brides and grooms.

What Could Be More Exciting Than An India-Pakistan Cricket Match

How about people on both sides of the border coming together to serve food to one million fellow citizens! Wouldn’t that be beautiful to witness. Well guess what… It’s happening! Come Independence Day, dressed in green and stocked with a million meals, the Robin Hood Army will be taking to the streets of our cities to do just that.

#Mission1Million Video

This Independence Day – Join the the largest war against Hunger. #Mission1MillionRobin Hood Army

Posted by Robin Hood Army on Monday, August 7, 2017

Started by two friends in 2014, the Robin Hood idea was to collect excess food from restaurants and distribute it to the less fortunate. It’s been three years now and the first two ‘Robins’ have grown into a team of over 10,000! United in their fight against hunger, they’ve now served food to 2.1 million people across 41 cities in 10 countries and they’re just getting started.

We’ve been following their work as they prepare to execute the big #Mission1Million on August 14th and 15th. Here’s a bit more we’ve learned about them:

Come rain or shine (or floods), nothing stops the Robins!

Stories that makes us feel incredibly proud of being part of RHA and being a Robin: As some of us might be aware, North Gujarat has been massively affected by floods. RHA Surat swung into action and collected 675kits of food grains that weighed 15kgs each and around 2000 kg of clothes. This helped them serve 39,000 affected folks. Our 2 Robins- Vimal Dave and Himanshu Jethva along with 3 others from a NGO – Koshish travelled 1100 kms and distributed these items by hand. They took one whole day to just find the village Village Name : Nadi Uttar Khakhar Dist Banaskantha An incredible act of humanity, perseverance and generosity. Thanks guys for inspiring us and defining the true meaning of a Robin. Total and complete respect. #RHA #Surat

They are very resourceful.

And the smiles are contagious.

Warning: Their happiness is contagious 😬

A post shared by Robin Hood Army India (@rha_india) on

They got to Farhan Akhtar too!

We can’t handle this cuteness either.

We couldnt handle the cuteness then we cant handle it now!! ❤️❤️ #tbt #Mission500K

A post shared by Robin Hood Army India (@rha_india) on

We’ve also learned some scary facts. Did you know that every 10 seconds a child dies from hunger, and that it kills more people each year than AIDS, Malaria and terrorism combined. We have over 230 million citizens between India and Pakistan alone who sleep hungry every night. The good news is that together we can change that. With a strict no-funds policy, the Robins just want your time.

We've got our army ready! Coming for you hunger….. #Mission1Million #RHA #Hyderabad

Now who can resist that. Click here if you’re joining the army too! #Mission1Million

Sarah Jane Dias

It’s been 70 years since India earned its freedom and we just love the way Sarah Jane Dias celebrated the occasion. Dressed in green, she joined the Robin Hood Army  on Independence Day and took to the streets to feed those in need as part of the #Mission1Million initiative.

With the target to provide meals to one million people, 10,000 volunteers (aka Robins) across India & Pakistan hit the streets on August 14th and 15th to accomplish this mission.

We’ve been watching them prep and decided to join in too!

Best decision ever!

Those cute smiles didn’t just get to us! Actors like Ayushmann Khurrana, Arjun Rampal, Bhumi Pedneker, Ashwin Mushran, Tara Sharma, ace photographer Anushka Menon, YouTuber Sherry Shroff, musician Monica Dogra and many others joined in to voice their support.

Like our friends in the fashion fraternity.

And the culinary world too.

It was awesome to see so much love for this fantastic initiative. And the Robins did what they do best.

United India & Pakistan in a fight against hunger.

Left no man behind, even if they were a boat ride away.

Took over every kitchen they could find.

Our Robins have just started cooking for Kids in Yerwada Mental Asylum. #Mission1Million #RHAPune

Masaba for LFW Winter/Festive 2017

When we say we experienced a paradigm shift in fashion at Day 1 of Lakme Fashion Week, we’re not kidding! Gear up for abstract prints, boxy silhouettes and beautiful juxtaposition of old and new. It seems the designers have a new voice and a new rhythm they are tuning us into. Bold, artistic and comfy chic, they might have held back on the colour palette, but not on the intricate details. The inspirations were unique and each collection had a story to tell. Here’s the round up of the fabulous start to 5 days of fashion!

Gen Next Designers

The new fashion generation has art up their sleeves and are not shy to showcase it! We loved the undertones of the dark hues combined with the easy breezy silhouettes.

From bandhani’s to block prints, LFW Day 2 was all about raw textiles. Also called Textile Day, day 2 highlighted the skills of craftsmen from towns like Kutch, Pollachi and various other cities from all over India. The designs and garments on display weren’t only visually appealing but also contributed to the upliftment of local artisans.

Many designers collaborated with local craftsmen and embodied their skill into modern-day silhouettes and edgy styles.

Here’s a quick recap of the collections that enthralled us in their unique ways:

As we welcome the festivity that is lined up for the rest of the year, we’re bubbling with inspiration because Lakme Fashion Week’s Winter/Festive 2017 edition has us covered! Glam-packed and buzzing with joyous vibes throughout, the designers effortlessly married the seasons best with sartorial finesse. The details warranted for special mention, as new styles of drapes and trimming took over the ramp.

The season of dipping temperature called for a game of layering, and we witnessed some interesting ways to do it right. Handloom picked up the new trajectory that was set in motion a few seasons ago, as the fashion leaders tried to make a statement with traditional weaves. We feel accessories gained a lot of momentum this season with obi belts, corsets, nose rings, quirky handbags, earrings and statement rings being the focus of the styling.

Here are our top 10 favourite shows from the 5 days of fashion:

1. Sanjay Garg

The grand opening by Sanjay Garg with his collection ‘Cloud People’ was an enchanting start to fashion week. His finesse in textiles was very evident as he played with classic weaves in a contemporary way. Chikankari in delicate motifs on Bengal mul, intricate zardozi work on rich fabrics and the opulence of brocade in modern silhouettes, all these thoughtful details made their mark.

2. Masaba Gupta

As usual, Masaba’s collection was bold and beautiful. Even though it was her first time adding to the trousseau of brides-to-be, she kept true to the essence of her brand. So, the bright colours and interesting prints definitely played their part, but she introduced feminine fluidity to the collection via classic silhouettes.

3. Gaurang Shah

Gaurang Shah always showcases Indian heritage with pride and understated elegance that is just hard to define. With his collection Chitravali, he presented art of the bygone era on the billowy flare of lehengas and anarkalis, which were meant for the twirl and swirl moments. The live performance by Shubha Mudgul only added to the exuberance of the textiles and silhouettes.

4. Amit Aggarwal

When we heard about the concept of ‘Monaco from the Heart of Kashi’, we were engaged. Also, we expected the sculptural finesse. Amit Aggarwal delivered and managed a beautiful amalgamation of both the cultures through the collection. The details were exquisite and showcased the richness of both the places. The conventional drapes merged well with the modern shapes that he crafted.

5. Falguni Shane Peacock

Known for their ethereal evening gowns and elaborate embroidery, we feel we had a fair share of both from Falguni Shane Peacock this time. Add to the mix Farah Khan‘s stellar jewellery and the charm of Preity Zinta and Ujjwala Raut, and we have a great showcase! We love how they added the casual bombers to their glamorous outfits.

6. Divyam Mehta

The Black Monk by Divyam Mehta garnered the serenity and simplicity of Buddhist monks’ dressing. It was evident in the unique drapes of the Indian textiles that he presented. The minimalism of the silhouettes gave rise to menswear like we have never witnessed before.

7. Ajay Kumar

We know extravagant prints are involved when it comes to Ajay Kumar‘s showcase. He induced his quirkiness on the ramp through not only the digital prints but also the sartorial details. The pleated trims amped up the structured silhouettes, statement shoes went with the print-on-print flow, while interesting brooches added to all of it. The pauses of solids here and there were refreshing too.

8. Doodlage

The patchwork textile from Dreams and Dystopia presented by Doodlage had its own story to tell. Apart from the melange of upcycled fabrics, the silhouettes with unique styling just hit the right note for us. Highlighting the waist were the corsets, wrap skirts and front knot tops, but what stole the show were the wacky headgears.

9. Chola

There is a certain ease that deconstructed fashion innately possess and Chola represented it in the best way. The long uneven sleeves, super high collars,  and in general abstract shapes of every clothing item made the anti-fit fashion look so cool. The genius was in the styling as it was on point with the uniqueness of all the outfits.

10. Manish Arora

You won’t be able to forget the Cosmic Love collection presented by Manish Arora that easily. The kaleidoscopic vision of the celestial prints and quirky embroidery found the base of asymmetric capes, dresses, jackets, skirts and other separates. Only he can pull off such amazing melange of colours, textures, prints and embroidery, and with a collection that spoke to the other world, it seemed quite apt.

Grand Finale: Manish Malhotra

Manish Malhotra’s closing show definitely left us wanting for more. Giving us a major throwback to the Great Gatsby era, his collection Tales Of Indulgence had opulence written all over it. Not totally shying away from his signature occasion wear style, Manish strictly had a cocktail night on his mind while conceptualising this lineup. The sex appeal of a glamorous night out came through the off-shoulder gowns, floor-length capes, shimmery fringe details, embroidery on sheer fabrics and statement suits for men.

Delhi experienced a double dose of Sid on Saturday night as Bollywood hottie Sidharth Malhotra walked for Siddhartha Tytler‘s couture show at his flagship store launch. Siddhartha Tytler‘s brand speaks luxury, elegance and, sophistication that was evident in his collection and the sprawling 1000 square feet of his new store too.

Inspired by the rich culture of India, Siddhartha Tytler used tones of dusty blue, ivory, muted gold amongst others in this lineup. He created ensembles in sharp silhouettes with details that were charming to the eye. We were absolutely crushing on the use of crystals, hand embroidery, digital printing, sequins and other techniques! Amal Clooney Makes A Stunning Post-Pregnancy Red Carpet Appearance

Whether making a poised appearance in court or being alongside the suave and sexy George Clooney, Amal Clooney makes sure she looks stunning. We are fans of her ladylike appeal—be it a formal look, a street-chic appearance or the red carpet glam. Of course, having a super hot arm candy like George is just the bonus.

The hot momma of two made sure all eyes were on her as she made her first red carpet appearance post-pregnancy. She attended the 74th Annual Venice Film Festival with George Clooney for the premiere of Suburbicon, which is written, directed and produced by him. She mesmerised everyone in the lilac number from Atelier Versace on this special occasion. The floaty silk chiffon gown had a ruched bodice that was fitted enough to show off her post-pregnancy bod. The pleats and trail of the skirt just added to the dreamy effect of the outfit. The dress was accessorised with beautiful drop earrings and strappy heels. Celebrity makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury went for old school glam with pink lips, and celebrity hairstylist Rod Ortega decked her up in ’40s wavy bob.

Doesn’t she look stunning? Tell us how much you love the beautiful couple in the comments below.

Diesel Just Deleted Their Entire Instagram Feed To Prove A Very Important Point

It isn’t your usual Wednesday when a goliath brand like Diesel deletes their entire Instagram feed. At first, we were upset that we hadn’t screenshotted enough of their posts for posterity, but on further stalking, we realized the bigger picture Diesel was trying to paint.

In a world where an individual’s Instagram feed is equal to his/her reputation because of the perfection it portrays with its filters et al, Diesel shows us their take on perfection. We’re so easily taken up by perfectly smooth skin and flawless faces that we often fail to see that this perfection is only a product of Instagram and not of reality.

“Perfection is boring. On Instagram even more. Here’s to an imperfect new beginning.” Diesel’s new Instagram bio reads.

The complete wipe off Instagram is only the beginning of their upcoming campaign named Go With The Flaw. The brand will soon be launching this campaign worldwide from Beijing in order to celebrate incredible looking people with interesting features.

“We think perfection is boring, and especially on Instagram everybody seeks perfection. Perfect photo, perfect picture, perfect life. And we are just tired of it. So we decided to delete everything for an imperfect new beginning”. Diesel added.

We’re backing this brand on their road to imperfection, what about you?

The most awaited fashion month is here, and we get a glimpse of what to expect next year through the lineup of the fashion weeks. We might not get up real early every day to check it out, but our Insta-feeds will be buzzing with action through out. Tom Ford is the best start to the fashion fiesta, as his collection was the highlight of day 1 for us.

Tom Ford made a comeback to the New York Fashion Week with his women’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection. He set the ramp on fire with the sex appeal that his collection always possesses. The show transitioned beautifully from day to night looks as he showcased both the moods perfectly.

A post shared by TOM FORD (@tomford) on

Mostly known for his tailored suits for men, the influence was visibly evident on the ramp with smart and sharp blazers for women. He also took us back to the ’90s with those bold shoulders, the disco bling and even the hairstyles of the models representing those days. Tom Ford always dared to represent sex appeal through the leggy display and plunging necklines, but we also loved the silhouettes of the bolero tuxedo jackets, baggy tailored pants and fluffy parkas. Though shimmer was a big part of the glam factor, we also found the soft hues and ruched body-hugging dresses very beautiful.

Everything You Need To Know From Day 2 At NYFW

Whether it was about reimagining the wild American terrain or using photography of Andy Warhol as print, creativity knew no bound on day 2 of New York Fashion Week. The designers showcased their imagination for Spring/ Summer 2018 in their own unique way and mesmerised us with interesting silhouettes. Here are our favourites from day 2 at NYFW :

1. Sachin & Babi

The textile spoke the journey through Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar. The rich colours, glamorous silhouettes and statement earrings played their part very well in the showcase.

2. Desigual

Jean-Paul Goude presented his first collection of Desigual at NYFW, and his graphic background was clearly visible. The show was a whimsical display of summer separates put together with some badass accessories.

3. Brock Collection

The leaf-covered ramp set the mood for the forest-themed show, but the subtlety of the lace, though expected, worked well with lacework. They are known for their flirty feminine silhouette, and again they managed to deliver the summer romance mood again.

4. Noon By Noor

Easy-breezy silhouettes graced the ramp in colours of white, black, red and pink. The well-tailored monochrome ensembles were styled with structured slings in a very editorial way.

5. Tadashi Shoji

Tadashi Shoji signature dresses are always spell-bounding, and he did not disappoint with his dreamy lineup. The celestial inspiration came through the intricate embroidery details on the elegant gown.

6. Creatures Of Comfort

We spotted the most comfortable and summer essential textile at the Creatures Of Comfort showcase—Hakoba fabric. True to their name, the silhouettes are very easy and oh-so-chic!

7. Cinq à Sept

A post shared by Cinq à Sept (@cinqasept) on

Off-the-runway presentation ensured the dramatics, but even the outfits played their parts. The dreamy silhouettes had a touch of whimsy to it.

8. Supima

Sustainable fashion took a supreme vision with Supima’s collection. Reimagining cotton in a really cool way, we saw silhouettes we had never seen before.

9. Adam Selman

The papers were an ode to the American terrains, and the floaty garments just gave the feels of being in a windy area. Denim on denim might have been his cool move but we loved the sheer pants too!

10. Calvin Klein

An explosion of fringe and colours were clearly evident in Calvin Klein’s showcase, but Raf Simon also added Andy Warhol‘s iconic photos as prints! He tried to successfully present the beauty of horror through blood stain prints and use of different textiles.

7 Designers Who Slayed On Day 3 Of NYFW

Bibhu Mohapatra

Safari-inspired outfits, a garden for a runway, neon tights and more, day 3 of New York Fashion Week was cray, beginning to end. Even though we’re sad we’re not attending, our obsession with NYFW has got us on a social media stalking high. So here is the lowdown on the hottest designers who absolutely slayed on day 3 of New York Fashion Week!

Club Monaco

Club Monaco’s SS 18 collection was all about well-tailored silhouettes that you can wear straight off the runway. While there were structured jackets, their collection also showcased easy-flowing silhouettes in floral prints that we’re totally crushing on. Plus, major props to the slides we spotted on the runway!

Tory Burch

The designer ditched the regular runway and showcased her collection in the garden of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. The major source of influence for Tory Burch’s collection was the interior designer, David Hicks. Prints and embroideries on silk wrap dresses, tunics, and poolside cover-ups featured motifs and designs created by him. We spotted some super symmetrical prints that put our OCD minds at peace.

Milly

Wildflower. Beautiful, yet untamed. Milly’s collection was a mix of blooming ensembles that featured layered skirts and ruffled dresses. Her designs were flirty yet strong and sexy.

Bibhu Mohapatra

Bibhu Mohapatra structured his entire collection to showcase a woman on her way to Japan in the early 20th century. Bibhu sought to bring honor to Japan in a new way with the way he reimagined the kimono in this collection. He dramatized the design by bringing in the off-shoulder element, wrapped fronts and used prints that gave the illusion of a kimono-like garment too.

Nicole Miller

If you wanna look chic on your next safari, the Nicole Miller’s SS18 collection is your new best friend. She brought her modernized version of jungle-worthy jumpsuits, jackets and trench coats for the IT girl. While her collection mostly consisted of the cotton and leather, we love how she has incorporated lace into the scene as well.

Jeremy Scott

I think it’s safe to say that Jeremy Scott is NYFW’s Manish Arora. You can’t understand his designs or silhouettes but can’t help loving them. Embellished neon stockings, green snake print pants knee-high boots and more unpredictable goodness, Jeremy Scott’s collection was a wild ride, start to finish!
