Instagram can be such a great source of information. While I was scrolling through my endless feed this morning, I came across this little piece of news. Now I know we have heard way too much of the Kardashians this past week, but damn, the family is everywhere! While Kim Kardashian is off taking her baby out for a stroll in New York in her cleavage bearing outfits, one of the youngest of the Klan, Kendall Jenner, seems to be under some major scrutiny for her sartorial choices at a recent awards show.

But, I guess after one small hitch, she’s back on track again – Givenchy just showed us a piece of their new advertising campaign shot by Mert & Marcus, and who does it feature? Take a look.

In a mess of animal prints and very very bold lips, you can spot Kendall sitting very cool in the corner. Did she get the part because of the designer, Ricardo Tisci’s ‘friendship’ with the family? Or was this on her own merit? Whatever the case, we think she looks fantastic!

Recently Kareena Kapoor attended the music launch of Lekar Hum Deewana Dil to support her cousin Armaan Jain. A.R. Rahman performed and the whole thing was a fantastic affair. Marv even broke down the two Kapoor sisters’ fashion choices on the day. Kareena looked stunning in a Satya Paul sari and when Zoom put up a picture on their Twitter this morning, we were a bit confused. Take a look.

Earlier this week, Jimmy Choo’s Men’s Collection had its first walk down the runway as a part of their Spring Summer 2015 collection. Moving away from the norm, the new collection sees the Jimmy Choo man taking a journey out of his native Mayfair.

Creative Director, Sandra Choi explained, “With this collection I wanted to take the Jimmy Choo man on an adventure, out of Mayfair, out of his comfort zone, to a deeper, more soulful London capturing another reality of what it means to live in this city. Referencing the work of British photographer John Deakin, I want to tell it how it is through the evolution of the gentleman’s classics with a contemporary and sometimes surprising twist – enter the biosphere of the Jimmy Choo man”.

Team MissMalini‘s BandraRoad crew caught up with them to talk street style and discuss their favourite street-shopping fixes. Here’s what they told us…

RK: Um… New York.
SK: But the kolhapuri chappals in Bombay are the bomb!
RK: Also the flea market in the Rose Bowl is amazing in LA.
SK: Rhea we’re talking about India!

BR: No we’re not! BandraRoad is everywhere!!!

SK: Oh sorry, sorry, sorry, I didn’t know that! I love shopping on the street in London as well. So if you go to like Gray’s Market… and if you got to any of the… you know they have these beautiful stalls they put up sometimes. Notting Hill and stuff like that they have all these beautiful street vendors that are there. And you get like some of the stuff and the next week you go, like if you keep something aside, that vendors not there anymore! And you’re like “where did that go? Where did it go!” So you get some great stuff on the streets, around everywhere.

BR: What’s your latest style fixation?

RK: The new thing that I really like, that I’m not doing today but, is layering necklaces! It’s my new thing! So I like putting a lot of delicate pieces with harder pieces, more like statement like pieces, I feel like it gives a feminine sort of edge! So that’s something I’ve been incorporating a lot. Plus I’m really into wearing jewellery in places which you don’t expect and that’s a very sort of street style influenced thing! So I’m going to be trying that out.

BR: Tell us about the places to shop in Cannes?

RK: Cannes is the most amazing shopping because everyone knows the world descends there, so they make sure that every collection possible of that designer is there. Like things you’ve not been able to find…
SK: You go to the store and the things that you find there! There are certain things that are sold out everywhere, you find them in Cannes, at those designers. It is the most incredible thing. You feel like you’re in the mecca of fashion!
RK: It’s beautiful…
SK: It’s amazing!
RK: But we have no time.
SK: Yeah, we have no time!

BR: What’s your current street style statement?

SK: I have these kolhapuri heels that my sister hates! But I love wearing them…
RK: I don’t hate them!
SK: You like my kolhapuri heels?!
RK: Yeah but not with everything.
SK: *giggles* I wear them with everything!
RK: I like the heels, just not the combinations.
SK: They’re kolhapuri chappals with wedges on them and I saw an aunty wearing them!
RK: Aunties are cool.
SK: Aunties are cool! And I was like “ok, I need to have them, because they look very comfortable.”
RK: My last street purchase was… I really love me a pair of cheap sunglasses! Because I feel like you end up sitting on it every pair of sunglasses that you own so…
SK: You don’t have any cheap sunglass though!
RK: Yeah because I lose all of them! That’s the point, they’re like easily lose-able, like $4 sunglasses, $5 sunglasses, those are my favourite purchases. Plus they’re very like “trend conscious” when it comes to you know, high street brands. Or even stuff that sells on the street. So you get stuff that’s very current and then you don’t feel guilty about destroying it, which you do…

An end of an era

As an era of fashion fails comes to an end, somewhere in the heart of Mumbai, Ameesha Patel is weeping into her collection of velour as she says goodbye to her beloved Juicy Couture.

The California based clothing first came into the limelight back in 2001, when it was spotted all over young Hollywood – the likes of Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez sported these mono colour tracksuits with ‘complementing’ bedazzled backsides. Bollywood damsels on our side of the hemisphere also lapped up the trend- Aishwarya Rai, Kajol, Shilpa Shetty all had their ‘Juicy moments’ (Ameesha having the maximum) The brand spread far and wide making its way into every fashion victim’s closet.

Over time, as fashion shifted from trailer thrash chic to fifth avenue class, and the brand diluted, its signature tracksuit outmoded. Struggling to survive, it was decided that the label will shut down all its stores in the U.S. by the end of this month. Does this mean that Ameesha will be deprived of all access to velour?

Oh the horror!

Apparently not. According to this article in the Huffington Post the parent company will relaunch Juicy Couture with a new line of products by spring 2015 shifting focus to accessories, handbags and footwear (velour tracksuits will still be part of the product line). By Fall 2015, it will launch independent Juicy concept  stores for intimates, sleepwear and young girls in Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

Whether the label will be able to regain its place in the closets of fashionistas or not, is something we have to wait and watch till next year. Till hen take a look at Juicy Couture’s unofficial Indian ambassador and her favorite Juicy pieces.

Remember when Rihanna went practically butt naked for the CFDA awards? It wasn’t just that, Rih Rih seems very comfortable with her nakedness clearly, the singer and Barbadian bombshell is known to favour see through tops, even bottoms and flaunt it for the cameras. She eventually got banned from Instagram for explicit content – we don’t think she gave a damn though because the pictures started showing up on Twitter instead. For the Arabic edition of Harper’s Bazaar, Rihanna shocked us for two reasons.

Beyoncé

Wednesday kicked off Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z‘s joined tour, On The Run, in Miami Florida. While the singer belted out her tunes, it was her outfits that need special mention. Custom dressed by Nicola Formichetti, Artistic Director of Diesel, Queen Bey looked absolutely fierce in a denim onesie.

She topped it off with with various hand applied hardware and stud-work, Swarovski crystal elements and black leather accessories. In keeping with the Bonnie and Clyde story line of the tour, even the backup dancers were dressed by Diesel in custom metallic striped “jailbait” bodysuits.

Kim Kardashian (Pic | Image Collect)

Kim Kardashian has been out and about in New York City these past few days. She seems to be doing a whole lot of shoots and appearances because hey, she’s Kim Kardashian. She even launched a Kim Kardashian app for the iPhone – yes, that happened. And she’s been going crazy about it (if you had an app, you would too!). She was spotted on two occasions wearing nude dresses and can I just say, they looked great on her! One was a deep V neck, calf length dress. She paired it with nude tie-up heels and no accessories except for that gigantic rock that is an engagement ring from her hubby Kanye West.

For another sighting, she picked a strapless basic Woolford dress with her go-to Tom Ford strappy stilettos. Once again, sporting no accessories except for the ring, she looked bronzed up to perfection with her hair simply clipped at the back.

#MMBackstageJury votes on Alia Bhatt’s style

Alia Bhatt has been out and about promoting Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and while we’ve been loving some of her looks, we had varied opinions on this particular look from their press meet in Hyderabad. Here are Team MissMalini’s votes and opinions:

Anushka Mulchandani: Alia’s new gladiators don’t make a dent on her old ones. While the dress is a bit more formal than her previous shorts and tee look, I wish she would have done something better with the shoes, she was having such a good run with those.

Secret Stud: She’s looking electric – and that’s my kinda voltage.

Dhruvi Shah: I’m not really sold on the look. It’s not clear to me what vibe she’s going for. It’s not telling a story, seems more like a mishmash. Although, I do love the lipstick.

Nowshad Rizwanullah: She looks like a Japanese Manga character – outfit, makeup and all – and it works! All she needs is someone following her around sprinkling pixie dust and she’s made.

Gigi: Thumbs up for overall freshness (and for working one of my favourite lip colours the right way). However, there’s a hiccup in the footwear department with Alia as well. The dark metallic gladiators are too overwhelming for the bright florals in her dress.

If recent reports are to be believed, the ‘newest’ face to hit Spring’15 runways will be Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. The Australian whistleblower will make his catwalk debut at London Fashion Week this September for Vivienne Westwood‘s son Ben Westwood. Assange has been seeking refuge in the Ecuadorian embassy in London for the past two years to avoid extradition.

Along with all that, she’s also styling Finding Fanny (husband Homi Adajani’s movie), Bang Bang (Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif) and already finished with Lekar Hum Deewana Dil which releases this week! Clearly Anaita is a miracle worker!
