The Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer, Kick released last week and turned out to be quite the hit at the box office. Jacqueline Fernandez gave us an array of great looks in the move and yes, she looked gorgeous (duh!). Sporting outfits by the likes of Victoria Beckham, Dolce & Gabbana and Chloe in the movie, she was styled by Tanya Ghavri. For her promotional rounds, Jacqueline wore some Giorgio Armani, Osman and even a bit of Dior. Apart from all these luxury brands, she made it a point to wear something by a brand closer to home. And it wasn’t just any brand. Jacqueline wore some outfits from the clothing line by Salman’s foundation, Being Human – thereby spreading awareness for his charity.

Who’s Your Agency?

Don’t you just love Instagram? You can follow all your favourite celebrities and keep up with what everyone’s doing – all you have to do is scroll. Suddenly Facebook and Twitter aren’t the only things you can procrastinate on. While it’s a great source of information, yes, I use Instagram as my daily news source; it also throws up photos of celebrities playing dress up. No prizes for guessing, but those are my absolute favourite posts! It keeps me updated on all the celebrity trends and sometimes can even be used as a source for inspiration when you’re feeling fashionably blocked. So I scoured through my phone (Yes, I love my job) and I found 8 fashion gems that got posted this week. Take a look.

I don’t remember the last time I saw Lady Gaga in something so girly! On the cover of Harper’s Bazaar, Gaga reminds me of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. And look, her dogs on the cover with her – how Elle-like is that!?

The Wrong Turn by Raj Shetye

A fashion photographer named, Raj Shetye uploaded these pictures to his work profile and shared it on social media. The so-called “editorial” (which to me, seems nothing more than a test shoot) is called ‘Wrong Turn’ and features a few male models ‘man-handling’ a female model in a bus. Anyone with half a brain can sense that these “geniuses” have tried to glamourize sexual abuse.

We are ashamed that these are members of the fashion industry. We are also deeply shocked and saddened by the fact that no one, in the team, saw that their ‘creative’ offering was in really bad taste. More so, it trivialized something that the country has been fighting to set right. In rage, familiar names from the fashion and film industry shared the picture and expressed their disgust to the shoot!

With two new releases coming up, Deepika Padukone is still busy filming and is showing no sign of stopping. For her newest project, she’s all set to dance up a storm and she looks amazing (duh!) while doing it. We just got some photos from the set and when you see them, they might take your breath away. Just like how Kate Moss was the Supermodel of the 90’s era, I feel Cara Delevingne is that of the present era. I love how fun, independent and rebellious she is. In this era where social media has a lot to play, we have Cara who is very active on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. She definitely makes it to my list of favourite Insta-Celebrities.

Elysian, Kallol Datta 1955′s Signature Line for Bombay Dyeing

Yesterday, I attended the launch of Bombay Dyeing #SignatureLineCollection at Tote On The Turf. It was an electric gathering of eclectic fashion enthusiasts cheering on Kallol Datta and Nachiket Barve, who unveiled their signature collections of bed and bath line for Bombay Dyeing. Both designers presented their respective Signature Line 2014 of bed sheets inspired and as an extension of their own signature styles in their clothing collections and their own design ideologies.

Kallol Datta showcased two collections, Artisanal and Elysian. As seen in his past art space settings, Datta kept his love for negative spacing and his own sharp artistic vision (that some consider dark but I think it’s just his own brand of brilliance).

The Artisanal range is heavy on one of his most recognized prints from his past collections, the clock. The collection note described Artisanal as a “Signature Line for the evolved individual who enjoys the finer things including the sheets they sleep on.”

Did you know that Kallol Datta also paints? Well, he does and you can now sleep on it! In the Elysian range, Datta took his artistic side to ‘bed’. Yup, the line of bed sheets and pillow case is a print heavy one with rich textures and colours. Hearts reign on this bed by Kallol Datta 1955.

The happy and always sports-a-smile designer presented his Signature Collection named Toxin (Interesting name for a bed linen line). Maintaining the art and subtly-chic edge of his label, Barve interpreted the molecular structure of bio-toxins in the prints for the bed linen line.

On the other hand, Lightness Of Being range comes in a soft and pastel-heavy colour scheme. Barve researched that aqua blue was a perfectly soothing colour for bedtime.

Style favourites like Shivani Dandekar, Sapna Bhavnani, Sona Mohapatra models Adhiraj Chakarborty, Alicia and Arshia Ahuja attended the event along with a few top names in the fashion fraternity like Grazia’s Ekta Rajani, Aparna Badlani, . The collection is available in bed and bath range across 450 exclusive Bombay Dyeing stores in the country, multi-brand outlets and large format stores.

We’re all set for September, which is when Sonam Kapoor‘s misfit story will hit the theatres. As is the norm before a big release, the stars of the movie are out day and night promoting it in different cities. What’s in it for us? We get to feast our eyes on all the different outfits! Gucci Men’s Tailoring Advertising campaign

‘ello!

I’m back today with news of Gucci’s new menswear line, which goes by the moniker of Men’s Tailoring. Basically, it is a selection of formal suiting from seven different silhouettes ranging from 60s-inspired relaxed fit through to modern slim fit. It is not a bespoke service though; rather, the line sits nicely between the fashion-forward seasonal ready-to-wear collections (Spring/Summer, Pre-Fall, Fall/Winter and Cruise) and the more luxurious ‘Made to Measure’ service.

We’ve already seen Rahul Khanna don one of the pieces from the collection — a ‘dark grey over-check micro design’ wool number in the ‘New Signoria’ silhouette — to the GQ Best Dressed Party in June.

The ‘New Signoria’ silhouette is a contemporary cut that follows the body’s contours with tapered trousers. The jacket construction features a soft canvas interlining and a thin shoulder pad that gives a gentle roll. Typically, the New Signoria comes in specially developed modern check fabrics (which explains the ‘over check micro-design’ mentioned above!) for a “fresh take on the patterned look”.

The Dylan 60s silhouette, as you’ve guessed, has a sixties inspiration. The suit has soft shoulders (meaning extremely easy to wear), very slim lapels and narrow trousers. The period’s spirit is brought right up-to-date by fabrics that emphasises comfort, like stretch cotton-suede.

The Signoria is Gucci’s original classic suit, which comes in a natural silhouette, structured shoulders, canvas construction and luxurious, smart fabrics like sablé mohair.

The Monaco silhouette is a slim, tapered suit with a soft shoulder and slim lapels for a “youthful, stylish look”. In other words, it is designed to appeal to those who want a relaxed, contemporary look with a hint of heritage. Fabrics include variations on classic cloths like wool-mohair.

The Brera silhouette is Gucci’s stab at the accessible traditional-fit suit. Comfortable around the chest but features well-constructed shoulders to give shape to the jacket, it comes with easy-fit trousers. The classic style lends itself to more traditional fabrics like wool-mohair in a bold stripe.

Who Wore It Better

Malaika Arora Khan attended Ritesh Sidhwani‘s birthday at the Taj Lands End the other night. Along with hubby Arbaaz Khan, she looked like quite the stunner in her wrap Diane von Furstenberg shimmering maxi. While I think the outfit looks great (especially those gorgeous pumps!), Bollywood hottie, Deepika Padukone wore the same dress earlier this year to an event.

Complete with layered necklaces and strappy sandals, I find myself leaning towards the way Deepika wore it over Malaika. Although they both seem to be doing justice to that slinky number.
